In fact I just sold a 1924 machine yesterday. I have one from 1939, hand crank, which I learned to sew on when I was 12. The other was bought on a whim last summer at an auction. I sold it for the same amount I gave for it, to a lady on a Norwegian quilt list - hand crank as well. I had no strings to the machine and it took to much space here. No table though. Little boy looks very happy with his quilt. I would like to get a treadle eventually and maybe a featherweight, how cool to have it there in the house waiting for you!Cathihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16037759700270046024noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18538999.post-1152988207758282632006-07-15T14:30:00.000-04:002006-07-15T14:30:00.000-04:00Girl -- it's beautiful... find a quilt to drape ov...Girl -- it's beautiful... find a quilt to drape over it. It will be beautiful. You must be living right... what a treasure.
Melanie
P.S. I admire your diligence to cut out quilt one season and make them the next. The decal is known as the Red Eye, or by some old singer men Red Head. I have one, also a 1921, but I don't have the cabinet, just the head. Someday....
Meanwhile, if you are interested and can find the time (haha)there are some excellent sites for old sewing machines and such. Let me know, I can give you several links.Gailhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08462858715264217775noreply@blogger.com
