Sewing more clothes

I have misplaced my camera - so nothing new to show for now. But, I am busy working away and doing lots of stuff. On the sewing front - since Monday, I made Little Boy another pair of PJ pants from this pattern (I only had 1 yard of flannel with race cars on it so no shirt - and of course, now he wants a shirt... hummm... will have to see what I can do about that!). That makes 2 complete pairs and 1 pair of pants from this pattern so far. AND, then I went ahead and made him the robe out of very soft fleece! If I had followed the pattern it would drag around on the floor behind him, so I shortened it a bit. And skipped the pockets. And added belt loops. And made it a bit narrower. And made the arms a bit longer. LOL! That is the thing about making clothes - you usually have to make 100 changes to the pattern. And - he loves, loves, loves it even if it is still a tiny bit incomplete right now! He picked the fleece out himself which is a mottled light blue with white butterflys on it - so sweet! My little fleece boy! Plus I made my girlfriend a pair of pants - will have to post a photo of the pattern after I find the camera. No quilting - I am just enjoying zipping some stuff through my serger! You know - making a quilt takes a LONG time - sometimes it feels good just to do something zippy! Despite all the pattern changes, I really enjoy making clothes.

Maybe a matching t-shirt will satisfy little boy?

Hi Evelyn,

I totally agree with what you said ..... "sometimes it feels good just to do something zippy". I've had a week like that and by the sounds of things will have another week of it next week - DH has decided that he needs a fleece vest and since all the store bought ones are too long I get to make one for him.

Could you get a plain flannel to match one of the colours in the pants for a shirt for Little Boy?

Have a wonderful weekend.

Aren't jammie pants fun to make and with all the wonderful flannel prints out there they are fun to make, fun to give and fun to wear.

I live in jammie pants year round, cotton during the warmer months~flannel during the cooler months. As soon as I get home I slip on a pr of jammie pants and might even have as many pairs as Little Boy!

Each year I make my son and his family each a pr of Christmas jammie pants and purchase matching longsleeve turlenecks, that is what they wear to bed on Christmas Eve and then wear during their Christmas breakfast and stocking opening time.

Aaww, I want to see your butterfly child!

Just think of the fun you could have when he grows up, threatening to show his girlfriends the pix of him wearing racing jammies and a butterfly robe. :D

My hat goes off to you for making so many clothing items. I have no luck making clothes at all--they never fit the body. *LOL* That is why I switched to quilting! No body to fit!

I used to make most of my clothes and then I got into quilting and no more clothing sewing for me! But lately I've been in a clothing mood so I think I'm going to take my serger in for service (hasn't been used in about 8 years!) and make me some shirts. I like my shirts kinda long and all I can find in the stores lately are short. I like something to come down over my big belly. LOL! So I guess I'll just have to make my own.

Fleece in just the BEST fabric for making little kids clothes - in fact it's not bad for big kids clothes too :o)

What fun sewing you are doing! It's so neat that you include him in the fabric choosing.

I envy people who can sew - even hemming things is a big challenge to me. I finally sat down and hemmed my dress for the wedding and the pants I'm going to wear to the Rehearsal dinner - I didn't do a great job but no one should be looking too closely (I hope)!

I agree, making a quilt IS time consuming, and every now and then, it is great to do something that you can see quick results from.

I haven't made clothes in a long time, but do have a kimono pattern I must get working on while my daughter is still wearing to wear one. You are inspiring me to try.
