Electric Heat

The thing about electric heat is that it makes me thirsty - at 4 am. The other morning I woke up for a drink and then decided... well, to sew. Oh, but only for an hour. I set the kitchen timer to make sure that I went back to bed by 5 am so I wouldn't be totally tuckered out before the day even began. And, lookie there - I got lots done in just 1 hour while my Little Angel was sound asleep. Glory be, I could actually leave my scissors at the sewing machine (gasp), while I got up to iron. Imagine! I think I am on to something here. I think I am going to give up trying to sew altogether when he is awake, it is soooo much more peaceful at 4 am. Oh, and did I mention I get tons more done in 1 hour when he is sleeping than in 1 hour when he is awake?

Country Wife - now finished - or at least ready for long-arm quilting! And - Little Boy in his butterfly fleece bathrobe. When I spread the top out on the floor to take a photo (well, almost completely spread out anyway - there are a few ripples in the photo, but it is actually nice and flat), he took his usual inspection spot. And declared - "Ooohh Momma, it is boootiful!" Think I will keep it - how could I not after that endorsement!

I LOVE your quilt !!! Don't you just feel soooo great when you finish up a project that you've been working on for a while??
Is "Country Wife" a pattern or a book? Is it still available? Or, did you design it yourself?? I'd love to make that one for myself one day!!!

Great Work!!!

Evelyn,
Your quilt is AWESOME!!! I also love how you let Little Boy run in the water with his clothes on...they'll dry!!!

It looks great - I love working at night and if I was just willing to give up my reading I'd do a lot more of it.

Country wife is terrific-what a clever boy you have to recognize it-maybe he will grow up to be the next Ricky Timms or John FLynn! LOL

Aren't kids just the best when they appreciate your work!

Maybe he'll grow up to be a quilter too! He certainly has good taste in quilts. Working at night is a good idea. Having had 4 kids in 6 years I can appreciate how hard it is to get anything done when they are underfoot.

He's right. It is booootiful! I've gotten where I seldom sleep thru the night. Some of my most productive sewing is at 4 or 5am now. Then I lay back down for another quick nap before I have to get up at 7.

Little Boy is one smart man - it is a gorgeous quilt. I wish I could run my machine at 4 AM, but I think I would wake up DH. Maybe I should hand work when I wake up in the middle of the night. Thanks for the idea.

He's absolutely correct - it is bootiful. :-) I love to sew in the early morning hours of the day - everything is very, very quiet. Just me, alone with my thoughts!

It is boootiful, Evelyn! Perhaps Little Boy's words need to be documented on the lable? He's so sweet!

I love the colors... that top turned out just great! How are you going to quilt it?

now you have caught on to the secret of being a mom of a growing toddler-the early hours of being able to get things done! much easier than staying up late sometimes-when you are too tired to sew well. hurray for such a gorgeous quilt top finished. glad you will keep it too.

I agree - that quilt is so incredibly beautiful. The colors are my favorite, and it looks like it just belongs on that bed.
And so sweet of your son to comment positively. My daughter is a teen, and I get "yeah, it's ok."

I don't know how I missed this post, but I did! That's a beautiful quilt, and a beautiful boy standing on it. I guess he doesn't take naps any more?

The colours are so pretty! My little one sits down in the middle if a quilt top is on the floor too :-) Early morning is indeed the best time to sew or read or whatever when you have children :-)

Hi Evelyn, what a lovely, lovely quilt!! And since it has the highest stamp of approval, you have to keep it..*VBS*
I do know what you mean..just abit of uninterrupted time is a great gift.
Little Boy is getting so big and looks so happy. Both in his bathrobe but also in that water in the post below..LOL That brought back memories of my then 18 month old son, laying down in a mud puddle to blow bubbles. And wearing brand new white high top corretive shoes that cost us a fortune...but how could anyone be angry with the happy little muddy face??? Keep the faith, Hugs, Finn

The quilt IS bootifool! I definitely agree.

I blamed my dry skin and being thirsty on our dry-wood burning heat. Maybe it's ANY kind of heat!
